Definition of Future Indefinite:

Future Indefinite tense is used to show an action that is not occured yet, will occure in future or intend to be done in future at a certain time. Future Indefinite also expresses future plans, determination, offer, prediction etc.

Usages of Future Indefinite:
  1. Future Indefinite Tense is used to show an action that is not occured yet, will occure in future or intend to be done in future at a certain time.
    • He will bring credit to his parents.
    • I shall participate in the game.
    • We shall finish our syllabus in summer.
  2. To describe future events or plans.
    • I shall get married in the coming week.
    • We shall start new business next year.
    • My friends will take exame by the next month.
  3. To show determination, willingness or indifference.
    • I will attend your party. (Determination)
    • John will never talk to her. (Indifference)
    • I will do it for you. Don't bother. (willingness)
  4. To make an offer, prediction, promise or suggestion.
    • Will you get first turn please. (offer)
    • England will win the match. (prediction)
    • I shall help you at any cost.(promise)
    • Which dessert shall I taste first.(suggestion)
What is difference between Future Perfect and Simple Future

We use Future Perfect when the action occurred must have time marker, time reference or deadline in the future. Future Indefinite is used when there is no time marker or deadline in future.

Examples
Jessy will have reached office by now. (Future Perfect)
Jessy will reach office. (Future Indefinite)
Formation of Future Indefinite:
Affirmative Sentences

In positive or affrimative sentences of Future Indefinte Tense we use shall, will and first form of verb. Shall is used with 1st person i.e (I, We) and will is used with 2nd and 3rd person i.e (You, He, She, It, singular noun, They, plural noun etc).

Examples
  • Principal will address the students.
  • Maidservant will peel the oranges.
  • Poeple will sacrifice lives for the country.
  • They will celebrate birthday of their pet dog.
  • We shall quarrel with him after the match.
Interrogative Sentences

In interrogative sentences of Future Indefinte Tense we use Shall and first form of verb with 1st person i.e (I, We). Will and first form of verb with 2nd and 3rd person i.e(You, He, She, It, singular noun, They, plural noun etc) and Shall and Will come at the beginning of sentence due to interrogation

  • Will my foster mother give me a gift?
  • Will Indians fight for their country?
  • Shall I look after your children for the whole day?
  • Will the college render concession to rich students?
  • Will people pray for the rain?
Negative Sentences

In negative sentences of Future Indefinte Tense we use NOT after Shall and Will plus first form of verb with all persons i.e (1st person, 2nd person, 3rd person).

Examples
  • Diana will not get credit at the end.
  • I shall not send invitation to my friends.
  • Will the scholars translate books in French language.
  • Harry will not travel for Australia next month.
  • We shall not repeat our mistakes in the upcoming match.
